How to prevent stomach acid from rising

Muslims are required to fast during the month of Ramadan. When fasting for worship, eating patterns shift automatically. From the time of sunrise until the moment of breaking the fast, a person must endure hunger and thirst.

This dietary modification is difficult for those who suffer from stomach acid problems. The reason for this is that when the stomach is empty, the acid in the stomach rises.

This does not preclude someone with stomach acid problems from fasting. Fortunately, there are techniques to stay fasting by preventing stomach acid from rising.

How to prevent stomach acid from rising

1. Reduce sour and spicy food

Acidic and spicy foods can trigger stomach acid to rise. Therefore limit or avoid consuming it at dawn and iftar. Some of these types of food are chili sauce, meat, and eggs, to cooking spices such as salt.

2. Eat in small portions

When the stomach is full, stomach acid can rise up into the esophagus. To prevent this, eat in small portions but with a frequent frequency.

3. Don't sleep after eating

As much as possible avoid sleeping after eating sahur or breaking the fast. Sleeping after eating will push the stomach contents up into the esophagus, causing acid reflux.

If you want to go back to sleep, at least wait 2-3 hours after eating. In this way, the risk of stomach acid rises can be reduced.

4. Pay attention to the sleeping position

So that stomach acid does not rise into the esophagus, you can sleep with your head higher than your stomach.

Sleeping on your left side can also be a sleeping position that can prevent stomach acid from rising during fasting.

5. Taking supplements

In addition to causing reflux which makes the esophagus afternoon, rising stomach acid also causes an afternoon stomach.
